So the intersection between being a woman and a Latina was challenging early in my career. I didn’t want being Latina to be the reason why I was having opportunities. Now as a leader that oversees diversity, equity, and inclusion, it’s really important that we value differences. As I mentor people, I really encourage them to be comfortable with who they are. And if they’re in a place with an organization that doesn’t value that, and then they’re probably in the wrong place.
